Homemade French Fries

Today we're going to have a little fun and pretend fried foods are good for you!  Even though they're not very healthy, I could seriously eat french fries after having my wisdom teeth removed.  They're that good people!

I don't think it's bad to enjoy french fries, but it would be bad to indulge in them everyday.

So every once in awhile I make these homemade fries and it seems to satisfy my french fry craving.

We just purchased a deep fryer, it makes frying so much easier.

Although we don't use it that often it's nice not to have the hot oil spattering and popping in your face.

Crispy and Delicious!

As easy as it is to drive thru the world's largest fast food chain, you can make your own hand-cut fries at home.

Ingredients
2 pounds Russet Potatoes
Canola Oil For Frying
Sea Salt

Directions
Heat oil in a fryer to 350 degrees.  Peel and cut the potatoes into wedges.  *The thicker they are, the longer they will take to fry.  Place the potato wedges in large a bowl and cover with cold water.  Allow the potatoes to soak for a few hours.  Once you are ready to fry, remove the potatoes from the water and pat them dry.  Carefully place the potato wedges into the hot oil.  Do not fry the entire batch at once– you’ll need to fry them in several smaller batches for the best results.  Cook until the fries are golden and crisp; about 8 minutes.  Remove from fries from oil and drain them in the fry basket then on paper towels.  Sprinkle fries with sea salt and enjoy!

  4. I'm with you...I could eat fries all day! Too bad they aren't good for the waistline. However, moderation is the key, which you've emphasized here. Look at your little fry container! Everything looks amazing.

  23. We are fry fans too. We once had a fry party and had all sorts of not healthy foods, it was fun and it kept the fried craving away afterwards, for a while anyway.

  27. Oh, I love homemade fries! I haven't had them in forever and they are so much better. My mom used to make what we referred to as "home fries". They were basically slices of potatoes, cut in the round, and fried.
