Thrift Store Bench Makeover

While visiting my favorite thrift store I came across this little bench.  I wasn't quite sure where I would place it, but for 7.99 I figured "what the heck"!  After a little primer, paint, and distressing I have a new piece of furniture.  I was able to use leftover paint from a previous project and the fabric for the seat was leftover from kitchen curtains I made.  I smile every time I walk by my new bench!

Thrift Store Finds

Who doesn't love a good bargain???  I enjoy finding ways to decorate my home for less.

Recently while at a local thrift store I stumbled upon a teacup set.  I knew immediately I wanted it, even though I wasn't quite sure how I would display it.  After some thought I decided to use it as planter.

I love they way it looks paired with an African Violet!

hallway redesign

I've always wanted to try painting horizontal stripes, but I wasn't brave enough to tackle an entire room.  So with a little inspiration from Karla I decided to paint a small hallway leading into our laundry room as a place to display family photos.  With help from a friend, we added chair rail to the wall. I later painted the bottom half of the wall a much lighter color. This was a very tedious task, for someone like myself with very little patience! Needless to say I am very happy with the results.
I used Behr Paints for the hallway. For the bottom half of the wall I  used parchment paper. For the lighter stripes I used raffia cream and  the darker stripes are gobi desert. The color swatch # is 710c.
